North West London Pathology Update

North West London Pathology in partnership with Imperial College Healthcare Trust, The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust are carrying out an intensive modernisation and transformation programme, supported by the implementation of a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) across the three trusts.  This major transformation programme will deliver test and platform harmonisation and will improve clinical outcome and patient experience.

These will take effect from 7th and 8th April 2018 and Cellular Pathology 9th April.

The pathology departments affected are as follows: 

  1. Clinical Biochemistry
  2. Haematology
  3. Infection and Immunity

For Cellular Pathology:

There will be no changes to the way that Cellular pathology tests are requested and reports are being standardised wherever possible.

All results will continue to be sent electronically and there will be a facility for reports emailing  so please note paper reports will no longer be sent automatically

Downtime procedure
If you have any issues with requesting pathology, please note all orders must be completed via the downtime forms available on the wards or sourced via the Site Nurse Practitioner on each site. site (the Site Nurse Practitioners carry pager 9335 at the Hammersmith site or pager 1065 at the St. Mary’s site or pager 1438 at the Charing Cross site)
